Independent label: Detour records was formed by David "Dizzy" Holmes. Founded by an avid record collector after a life-changing scooter crash. Started life via a personal sales advert in 'Scootering' magazine and then a very small scale handwritten mail order list. After a demo tape approach in 1992 it was decided to test the water with actual releases. When the small run of the debut release in early 1993 sold well it was realised that was a market and the label proper was born. With the help of family and friends the label expanded from a personal hobby and lifestyle business to a fully-operating small and specialist independent label.
