DGC
RECORDS
DGC Records is an acronym for David Geffen Company,
which was used for a Geffen Records subsidiary created in 1990 to focus on more
progressive sounds than its parent label’s more mainstream fare. Wound down in
the late 1990s as most of its artists were absorbed by either Geffen Records or
Interscope Records when the MCA Records and PolyGram families merged in 1999,
creating the Universal Music Group, and Geffen became part of Interscope
Records. However, DGC continued with Beck and Sonic Youth as its only artists
until 2003. In 2007, it was relaunched as a direct subsidiary of Interscope
Records. Distributed By BMG
Records.
